  Today we made lavender sugar scrubs. It was a sweet and magical time spent together. Laughing and dancing in the kitchen, just you and me, surrounded by one of our favorite smells. I wonder if someday when you are older, and I am a mere memory, the smell of lavender will transport you to your childhood… To those days spent picking lavender in the stunning fields, the sound of the bees like a wild river while you were hunting for grasshoppers, watching your mama cut meticulously and almost ritual like each stem and placing it on a basket to later delicately arrange them in her flowers, the jazz playing, the sound of laughter, and sweet aroma of making sugar lavender scrubs to then run to the sink to try them, and later drowsing into a land of dreams after having your pillow sprayed with that comforting smell.   There is a challenge or invitation going around in social media latelly. It is to create hearts in honor of our doctors, nurses, and 1st responders and put them on a window of the house so people can see your support for this amazing heroes during the Corona Virus / covid_19 outbreak. I would like to add to it by inviting you all to pray for them as you make the hearts and every time you see a heart on a window tap your heart send them love and say a prayer for them! Fom our family we ould like to thank all the brave nurses, doctors, and 1st responders for being in the frontline, even when it means to put your life at risk for the sake of others and when you do this you show the real meaning of #love. So, thank you for your courage and hard work, thank you for the long hours as you fight your own fears and anxiety, thank you for showing up each day to the battle, thank you for all you do. How far I have come…

  Yesterday I voiced my disappointment on the superbowl half time show and as I was reading the comments on facebook someone from my past said something that triggered me, something along the lines of who are you to talk. It sent me on a spiral but then I stopped and really thought about it. Yes, I used to be different, I used to be consumed by the misguided culture, I fell into the trap of finding my identity and my idea of happiness outside of me, drinking even though it made me sick in order to feel like I fit in, allowing abusive friendships and relationships and accept crumbs because I was looking for some kind of love and acceptance. It wasn’t until I realized the peace and happiness I was looking for was no where to be found that I stopped and and took a good look at my life, my actions, my beliefs… me.
