Early Winter?

Today there is a feeling of change in the air, not just the rain. That as much as we love summer winter seems to be just around the corner. 

I read the Farmer's almanac article saying we will be hit with earlier and more snow this year in North Idaho. 

I think they may be right. I have been noticing subtle signs already for a while. The trees on our street are changing colors, the blackberries are packing more fruit and bigger berries than normal, and sunflowers bloomed much earlier this year. 

But what seems to confirm my suspicions is noticing that today the bees have been acting very aggressive all clustered by the hummingbird feeder, I remember seing that in late September of last year, when they know their time is almost done so they need to gather as much as they can.

Have you noticed the same thing? This is only my 3rd winter in the north so maybe I am not as good as telling signs yet. I am curious to hear what you think?

Self Care & Mom Guilt + journaling prompts

Hi everyone, I know it has been a while since the last post, a few things happened in our life and I gave myself the time I needed and grace to fully focus (more on that later) The good news is I am back and with a powerful topic! A few weeks ago I was feeling completely depleted as a mom and wife and woman. I realized I had been putting myself last and was feeling the consequences! It made me think of how us mamas by nature we are nurturers, we want to take care of everyone and yet we forget to take care of us, or feel "guilty" doing so. But let me tell you mamas WE are the ones that keep the family going, they depend on us, our kids, home and hubbies count on us, and we can't fulfill the calling that God sent us if we feel empty, we feel stuck, we are running on fumes, and snapping at everyone in our path. Last night’s “Aha moment”

  Last night a reader’s comment was really getting under my skin but I tried letting it go and going to bed. About what seemed like an eternity, probably 10 mins, I decided to pray and hand it over to our heavenly father. As I prayed I said “I surrender this thoughts and feelings and issue to you, please take them so I can sleep”. Not much time later I could see in my mind this image of what I imagine Jesus looks like smiling and almost laughing but with a kind face (that one a super loving patient parent would give it’s little toddler) and saying “ok, I’ll take it but you have to actually open your hands and give it to me” and I saw myself there standing in front of Him clenching something in my hands so tight they looked like fists. I opened my eyes and started laughing!
